BACKGROUND

The inhabitants of Cyahinda, are a warm, welcoming and family community, composed mostly of peasants. These families are subsistence farmers, and thanks to their efforts, they survive only from the crops in small plots of land, being able to generate enough food to survive, but at no time they generate enough to earn an income.

For this reason, families can maintain a moderately acceptable lifestyle until they face an economic demand, which can unbalance an entire family unit. This may include providing children with clothing, school supplies, the annual health insurance fee, or school fees.

At the same time, by not having resources, children can have a diet deficit and nutrition monotonous, leading to a state of malnutrition. This eventually affects both their health, increasing the incidence of diseases, and their education, generating low school performance which will affect their future. For this reason, we implement the sponsorship project for children in need.

THE PROJECT

Sponsorship allows us to cooperate in improving the living conditions of a child of a vulnerable population, their family and their environment through development projects that benefit an entire community. For this reason, both sponsored and non-sponsored children benefit from the same programs, receiving education, adequate food and medical attention when needed. Likewise, for the organization to sponsor means to create a bond between us and these children, thus promoting bilateral cultural exchange and giving the opportunity to forge a friendship.

Our contact with the community of Cyahinda is through Aimable Nkezabera, president of MD OPEN WORLD RWANDA and deputy director of the GS St. Laurent school, and also through the committee of parents and teachers of the school.
There are many families that would benefit from this project, so if you are interested in this initiative, do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
